Jim Sharpe has been a professional artist and illustrator for nearly thirty years. Starting his professional career as a designer and art director working on the Chevrolet account. In the automobile industry he become known for the use of montage art, which at the time was a fairly new concept in editorial art.

Montage art a collections of images blended together to convey a special message, to capture the viewers attention and direct them through a maze of images, colors, and shapes, and in the end, sell product or an idea with clarity and not confusion. Montages should be dynamic, intriguing from close up to distance viewing of the painting. There should always be a first reading, second, third reading and so on....

Jim Sharpe designed original montage art for magazine covers such as Time, TV Guide, and Golf Digest, television poster art for ABC and NBC televise. His works also encompassed movie posters, sports posters and all types of advertisement campaigns.

He as done annual paintings for the United States Air Force for nearly twenty years. These paintings now hand in the Pentagon and USAF bases around the world. During the Persian Gulf War , Jim Sharpe traveled along with Bob Hope and his last Christmas trip around the world. Jim's 4 1/2' by 7' painting "Around The World In Eight Days" included all the entertainers in Hope's troop, the airplane flown on, all the places stopped around the world, and of course all the different service branches of the United States were represented.

His recent clients include, the Lincoln center, the PBS Series "The Civil War", and Madison Square Garden. Recently he executed the Cole Porter U.S. postage stamp. Mr Sharpe's work appears on twelve postage stamps created for the Performing Art series. His work includes the designed five coins for the U.S. Mint, one gold for the 1992 Olympics and four silver dollar coins for the 1996 Olympic Games.

Being a native Texan, Jim Sharpe is immensely proud and passionate of Texas ad its history. His Western Art collection represents an unique view and representation of life in Texas.
